Howdy, friends! Scott here, and I’m excited to share with y’all what I talked about in episode 147 of the Everyday Stories on Our Homestead podcast. It’s packed with down-to-earth advice and heartfelt stories about growing both a business and yourself right here on the homestead.
Back in the day, I reached out to Ray Higdon looking for some wisdom. His simple advice stuck with me: “Make three pieces of content every single day.” Not gonna lie, at first, I wasn’t sure how I’d pull that off in my hectic homestead life.
But over time, (Actually, It took me years) I let that idea settle in and grow roots. Making daily content became my secret sauce for creativity and building momentum, driving both my homestead business and personal growth forward step by step.

For me, that advice was a wake-up call. Consistency may sound basic, but it’s the foundation that holds everything else up. Now, I’m all in on making daily content my non-negotiable habit.

I know firsthand how fear can hold you back — fear of messing up, being seen, or doubting your own worth. Lots of us homesteaders wrestle with those feelings before we decide to share our stories with the world.
Here on the homestead, we’ve learned that patience and showing up day after day is just like planting seeds—you trust the process even when you can’t see the harvest yet. That same patience fuels any entrepreneurial dream worth chasing.
Every day, I put out a video podcast, write a blog, and share snippets on social media. Those small steps build momentum, connect me with folks like you, and keep me moving forward even when it gets tough (and believe me it gets tough. Just see some of those episodes where I have just barely rolled out of bed).
It ain’t always easy, but those daily actions have changed not just my homestead business, but my whole outlook too. If you’re hesitating, let me say: the best time to start is right now. Get out there and try, even if it’s messy. And believe me it will be messy. Don't worry, in the beginning no one is watching so just do it for the practice. One day you will look back on those videos and cringe, but then pat yourself on the back for breaking that horse in (get my metaphor there?).
After committing to daily publishing, my vision’s gotten clearer, and our audience keeps growing. That steady pulse of content has boosted my confidence and helped build systems that support real, sustainable growth. The momentum we’ve got is something special. But we had to start somewhere even if that meant falling off the metaphorical horse a hundred times before breaking her in.

Here’s seven straightforward steps I use to stay consistent without getting overwhelmed:
1. Pick three platforms where your folks hang out — focus there so you’re not all over the place.
2. Block out time to batch-create several posts. It saves your energy and keeps the ideas flowing.
3. Keep it real — share authentic moments and useful tips, not polished perfection.
4. Document your daily homestead life as it happens. The everyday stories are what folks love.
5. Reuse your content across channels — turn blogs into social snippets, videos into podcasts, and so on.
6. Find a routine that fits your day — morning, noon, or night — and stick to it. Consistency rules over timing.
7. Cut yourself some slack. Progress beats perfection, and every little step brings you closer to your dreams. Keep getting back on that horse and remember even experienced riders on experienced horse still have trouble from time to time. The task stays the same but your capacity to do it gets better, believe me, I know!

Following these practical tips, you’ll find the overwhelm fades and a steady, sustainable rhythm takes hold. Starting where you are and committing daily transforms your content from a task to a powerful tool for change.

Episode 147 has me thinking about how natural it is to doubt or question progress sometimes. But what I know for sure is the magic is in the persistence — showing up, rain or shine, is what builds lasting success on the homestead and online.
Russell Brunson’s words ring true: after a solid year of daily publishing, the momentum kicks in and your efforts really start compounding. It’s a long game, but one well worth playing. And of course with just 147 episodes under my belt (and not always daily, at that) I am still doing my research. Learn by doing!
