How to Get Paid for Your Videos:
The Key to Creating Valuable Content

Introduction
Many homesteaders and entrepreneurs make the mistake of posting without a plan, throwing content into the digital world and hoping something gains traction. I used to do the same thing—posting randomly, trying everything, and seeing little to no results. But when I developed a content strategy, everything changed. I started gaining engagement, trust, and income because I structured my approach.

If you’re tired of feeling like your content is getting lost in the void, it’s time to shift from random posting to strategic content creation. In this post, I’ll show you how to create a profitable content strategy, focusing on the 4 Cs of Content, choosing your core topics, and building a simple system that helps you stay consistent and effective.

The 4 Cs of Content: A Balanced Strategy
One of the biggest mistakes content creators make is focusing too much on sales posts (conversion content) while neglecting other essential content types. To build trust and engagement, your content strategy should include:

1️⃣ Credibility Posts – Showcase your expertise, experience, and knowledge. Share insights, results, and valuable information that position you as an authority in your field.

2️⃣ Connection Posts – Engage with your audience on a personal level. Tell stories, ask questions, and create conversations that help people relate to you and your brand.

3️⃣ Character Posts – Show your personality, values, and what makes you unique. People connect with people, not just businesses, so let them see who you are.

4️⃣ Conversion Posts – These are your promotional posts—offering products, services, or calls to action that lead to sales or sign-ups. They’re important, but they shouldn’t dominate your content.

By balancing these four content types, you create an ecosystem where your audience trusts you, engages with you, and is more likely to take action when you offer something valuable.

Choosing Your 3-5 Core Content Categories
Another key to a profitable content strategy is focusing on a few core topics instead of trying to talk about everything. If you try to cover too many subjects, your audience won’t know what to expect, and you’ll struggle to build authority in any one area.

For me, my core content categories are:
✅ Self-Reliance – Teaching sustainable and profitable homesteading
✅ Community & Interdependence – How homesteaders can support each other
✅ Faith & Family – The foundation of everything I do
✅ Personal Development & Entrepreneurship – Building skills, mindset, and income

By sticking to these categories, I stay consistent, attract the right audience, and ensure my content always aligns with my mission.

If you’re unsure about your core topics, think about what you want to be known for and what your audience values the most. Stick to 3-5 categories and build your strategy around them.

Creating a Simple, Effective Content System
Once you have your 4 Cs and core categories, the next step is planning your content in advance. A simple system will help you avoid burnout, stay consistent, and ensure that your content serves your goals.

Here’s what I recommend:
Create a Content Calendar – Plan out what you’ll post each week. Assign specific days for credibility, connection, character, and conversion posts.
✅ Batch Create Content - Instead of scrambling every day, set aside time to create multiple posts at once.
Repurpose Your Content – Turn blog posts into social media snippets, podcast episodes into video clips, and make your content work harder for you.

When you follow a system, you gain control over your content strategy instead of constantly chasing ideas or posting last-minute. This approach saves time and ensures your content leads to real results—more engagement, trust, and conversions.
