The battle isn’t over. Far from it.
I’m still walking through homelessness. Still searching for the next opportunity. Still trying to figure out what “profitable” looks like when you’re starting again with nothing but a dream, a MacBook, and a persistent kind of faith.
But I’m not the same person who walked into the Behavioral Medicine Unit a little bit ago. Something shifted. My faith is deeper. My mission is clearer. My story is still being written.
This post isn’t a conclusion — it’s a checkpoint. A moment to look back at the road so far and take a deep breath before pressing on.
It all started in a hospital room — six days of silence, reflection, and truth. That’s where I learned that healing begins when you stop pretending you’re fine.
The reset wasn’t punishment; it was permission. A chance to rebuild. An opportunity to breathe again.
That moment became the foundation for this series and for my next season of life — a season of rebuilding from the inside out.
After the reset came the dream: to help homestead content creators build marketing systems that sustain their families and bless their communities.
That dream gave me purpose — something to wake up for when everything else felt uncertain.
I started building my “digital homestead” — one blog, one podcast, one funnel, one prayer at a time. It’s not perfect, but it’s real and it's developing slowly but surely. And it’s mine to nurture.
Fear still shows up every day. The fear of failure. The fear of never finding stability again. The fear of never seeing my kids again and never being able to apologize for all the anger and pain I spewed out on them.
But I’ve learned that fear is just faith in the wrong outcome.
Faith doesn’t erase fear; it redefines it. It’s the decision to believe that something good can grow from what feels barren.
Each morning, I make that decision again — on my knees, in prayer, asking God for direction and peace to face another day.
I don’t have a house or even land, not even the less than an acre of land I lived on before right now. But I do have something worth managing — my time, my words, my mission, and my faith.
Stewardship isn’t about what you own. It’s about how you handle what’s in your hands.
That truth has kept me grounded. It’s taught me that abundance starts with gratitude, not growth charts. I’m learning to manage the small things well so I’ll be ready for bigger things later.
Healing has been the hardest work I’ve ever done. It’s not peaceful or predictable. Some days it feels like one step forward, five steps back. But even in the struggle, I see purpose forming.
The soil of pain can still grow good things. Forgiveness, patience, humility — they’re all sprouting in places that once felt barren.
I’m still in the thick of it. Still working through grief, separation, and the uncertainty of what comes next. But I’ve stopped asking, “Why me?” and started asking, “What now?”
This season hasn’t magically resolved. I’m still homeless. I’m still trying to build something sustainable from the ground up. But the difference now is that I’m building with purpose.
Every word I write, every story I share, every system I design — they’re all part of a bigger mission. To show that you can rebuild your life too, even when the foundation crumbles.
I’m not chasing a fairytale ending. I’m fighting for a faithful one.
The “homestead” I’m building right now isn’t a physical place — not yet. It’s a mindset. A mission. A movement of people who believe that freedom starts with stewardship and that purpose can grow anywhere.
Maybe one day it’ll be acres of soil with some ducks again. But for now, it’s pixels, prayers, and persistence. (Persistence is my superpower.)
And that’s okay.
This isn’t the end of From Homeless to Homestead. It’s just where the next leg of the journey begins.
If any part of this story — the faith, the fear, the fight — has connected with you, I’d love for you to keep walking with me.

That’s where I’ll keep sharing my story, my systems, and my lessons — as they’re learned in real time.
Get behind-the-scenes updates, practical tools, and faith-filled encouragement as I navigate homelessness, rebuild my business, and prepare for the next adventure.
Because this story isn’t finished — and I don’t think yours is either.
We’re all learning, growing, and fighting to build something worth passing on.
From brokenness to beginning again — the journey continues.
Gratefully,
Scott Alan Westhoff
