Hey everyone, Scott here! I’m excited to let you know that I’m almost finished setting up our e-commerce site. This is a huge step in our homestead journey—not just in documenting what we’re doing but in launching our own physical products and a connected “expert business” to help support other homesteaders. Just like we diversify crops on the homestead to protect against loss, I’m diversifying our income streams to add more stability and resilience to our project.

So why combine an expert business with physical products? Well, by sharing valuable, organic food with a wider audience, we’re creating real impact, providing real food, and helping meet real needs—not just offering products that are overproduced and disconnected from what people want, like subsidized soy and corn. This way, we’re building a trusted brand that reflects what our community actually values. And as Stephen Covey would say, this is about “win-win”: we’re here to help people, and that, in turn, supports our homestead too.

On top of that, the expert business side allows us to add value through consultations, product education, and marketing support for other homesteaders. That means we’re not just selling products—we’re providing a full circle of support to help you make the most of your own homesteads. Plus, creating a learning-based community gives us a way to adapt and innovate so that we’re always offering the best support possible for everyone.
